Plankton Montioring with Feiro Marine Life Center
Develop protocols to collect plankton samples in Port Angeles Harbor. Work with Bob Campbell and others of Feiro Marine Life Center.
Seabird Surveys with Olympic Coast National Marine Sanctuary
Become trained in and conduct Coastal Observation and Seabird Survey Team (COASST) protocols on West Elwha Beach. Work with Janet Lamont of Olympic Coast National Marine Sancturay and North Olympic Peninsula Natural Resources professionals.
Valley Creek Restoration with Streamkeepers
Participate in data collection as part of the Valley Creek restoration project. Work with Streamkeepers and other community partners.
Disover Olympic with Olympic National Park
Learn the job of an Interpretive Park Ranger. Work in-person and behind the scenes to provide National Park visitors with information. Take on an independent project to help with visitor education in Olympic National Park.

Create interactive maps using data from the collected by Natural Resources classes. If you choose, you may also collect data in the field with Natural Resources classes.

Beach Monitoring Protocol Field Testing
Carry out the Washington State University Beachwatchers field protocols. Test these to see if they work and are easy to follow. Provide feedback to the Beachwatchers.
Marine and/or Forest Interpretive (Informational) Signs
Research, design, and then install interpretive signs in your community. Possible topics for signs include marine environments, marine debris, water quality, forest succession, and biofuel. Possible sign locations include Port Angeles Pier, Forks Timber Museum, and Olympic National Forest Campgrounds.
Carbon Footprint Analysis
Follow the Cool School Challenge protocol to conduct a carbon footprint analysis of local schools. Report on the results to your school and/or community.
Natural Resources Class Webmaster
Manage and update the Natural Resources Class Website.
